Hi Every Experts!

In Cisco Nexus 2300 datasheet, it mentions Nexus 2348TQ FCoE support up to 30m with Category 6a and 7 cables, does it means the storage can be directly connected to Nexus 2348TQ by configuring the port to run FCoE?

Cisco Nexus 2300 datashee:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/nexus-2000-series-fabric-extenders/datasheet-c78-731663.html

Thank you.

Hi Wei Kwong Ong,

About a quarter of the way down that data sheet it gives a little bit more information.

Under FCoE section:

"FCoE support up to 30m with Category 6a and 7 cables (Cisco Nexus 5500 and 5600 platforms and 6000 Series)"

Under parent switch section:

Cisco Nexus 5500 and 5600 platforms
  Cisco Nexus 6000 Series
Cisco Nexus 7000 Series and 7700 platform
Cisco Nexus 9300 and 9500 Series

I take that to mean that it supports FCoE but only when the parent switch is from the 5500/5600/6000 series/platform. It will not support FCoE when the parent switch is from the 7000/9300/9500 series/platform. I hope that answers your question

Thanks for your answer!
Does it mean the FCoE physical connection can be directly from the storage to the Nexus 2348TQ switch?

Yes. Just think of the FEX as a physical extension of the parent switch. So just like you could plug it into the N5K, you can plug it into the N2K as well.
