Nexus multicast PIM adjacency in VPC leg

we have a requirement to run PIM adjacency between a firewall and nexus in VPC environment , firewall connected to nexus  by using  VPC port channels and  VLAN SVI is used to establish PIM adjacency.

As per configuration guide this PIM adjacency currently is not supported , but i found a TAC technote that says that this will be supported later with Layer 3 over VPC feature and currently traced to below bug but details currently not visible to public.

CSCtq49254  VPC: Mcast not forwarded when received from VPC from L3-hop on VPC Sec.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/multicast/214140-multicast-forwarding-in-vpc-based-on-loc.html

Has anyone come across this issue.

Hi!

Check out https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/ip/ip-routing/118997-technote-nexus-00.html it's recently been updated with new platforms and more information.

Hopefully this helps!

Regards,

Jason.

Hi Jason,

It only supported on a orphan port, still no support for VPC connection as per below comment under "Table 1: Routing Protocol Adjacencies Supported over Physical Interfaces" section.

"Although L3-A is supported as an orphan port, PIM adjacency is not supported for L3-B or L3-C to Nexus-A and Nexus-B."

And in " Table 2: Routing Protocols Adjacencies Support over vPC VLANs" ,no mention of PIM.

Hope that in later stage Cisco will add support for PIM in VPC interface.

Regards,
Dileep
