4006 with ws-x4184 and ws-4284 and NO INLINE POWER???

Hello everyone, this is weird.

I have a 4006, with a sup III, 3x 400W power supplies and yet when I do "show power" inline power shows available 0 and none of my phones turn up.

I've tried to configure power to auto, switchport to 802.1P, setup VLANs and all for nothing, the chassis does not seem to supply inline power on either card.

Any ideas or recommendation?

Thanks!

Correct me if I am wrong. We have 4006 CatOS with IP Phones also.

4006 does support inline power but you need Power Entry Module and External Power Shelf and Power Supplies. After you install those part, then the IP Phone can get the power from WS-X4148-RJ45V module. Remember not WS-X4148, it is WS-X4148-RJ45V.

You are right, it's a WS-X4148V-RJ45 but I also have a WS-X4248.

I thought one of them would power up using the power supplies in the chassis, according to the docs I've read so far.

I have already ordered th PEM and external chassis so i can test early next week.

I just did one. It works well, but take into consideration that spending the $1500 on the powershelf, the 4006 is end of life. The 4500 has replaced it. The blades you have, will work in the new 4500 ok.

cheers

Would I be able to power all phones plugged in to a WS-4248V-RJ45 using the setup below?

I want to fully populate the chassis
