7916 blue screen

I recently set up a new 7965 with a 7916 add-on.  I used the same config that I have in the past, however this time the speed dial numbers are not showing up on the 7916 screen.  Acutally, nothing is.  It is just displaying a blue screen.  None of the buttons are active either.  Below is a sample of the config I am using  (phone numbers have been masked for security). Any ideas?????

Hi Michael

Generally when I've seen this before its because the sidecar doesn't have any firmware on it (assuming you've checked the cabling from the 7965 into the 7916).

If you debug tftp event after a hard boot of the 7965 you should see if it is requesting a firmware image for the 7916. Chances are you aren't serving it out from the flash of the CME router and the side car doesn't initialise. If this is the case you'll need to download the firmware from CCO and install it in the router flash.

Just a guess - and worth a look

Also, if you so a "show ephone " on the 7965 you should see how many lines it thinks it has. If it's only 6, then it's not seeing the side car. Either cabling or firmware in my experience.

I've also on one occassion had to recreate the phone configuration files under telephony-service after adding the "addon" command

telephony-service

no create-cnf

create-cnf

hard boot the 7965.

As always an extremely useful answer from Barry, rated as such.

Thanks for the fast response and the great info. I was able to resolve the issue by

deleting/adding the associated ephone-dn.  I believe the issue was stemming from a more general issue with the phone sequence # not matching in the CUE.

Hi guys,

I'm having this exact issue with a 7975G + 7916 and I'm wondering if there are any other ideas out there besides what has already been mentioned?  I've verified the phone sees the sidecar with the 'sh ephone xxxx.xxxx.xxxx' and it clearly states there are 32 available lines (8 + 24), so I know that is good.  I've also verified from the phone that the 7916 has the correct firmware.  I also just removed the ephone and ephone-dn for this phone, and recreated it, and still nothing.  Interestingly enough, I can add buttons to the 7916, but I get nothing when I configure speed-dials.

I have 10 other 7975's with 7914's and these all work fine with the same speed-dial setup.  It just seems to be this one phone.

Thanks in advance,

Brandon
