7931G Factory Reset failing

Greetings,

I went to factory reset a 7931G running SCCP after a failed attempt to change to SIP code.

The phone reboots, gets an IP, says "Upgrading".  I can then see it hit my TFTP server and grab:

term31.default.loads

After this, the spash screen comes up on the phone, sits there for a while and then resets.  No other files are requested on the TFTP server.

Is there a better way to do this?

This is happpening because the firmware on the phone cant upgrade to th firmware on your server. The interesting thing the phone request for a term31.defaults.loads, but this file is a generic file. You will not know which firmware this file is for.

So here is how to resolve this..I guess that the ifrmware on your server (CME/CUCM?) is 9.X. To get the phone to upgrade to that firmware you will need to upgrade to 8.5 first. So you need to download 8.5 firmware on your server and once the phone had upgraded and registred, you can then upgrade to 9.X
