I am trying to upgrade my SCCP 7941G to SIP. The original SCCP version is SCCP41.8-4-4S.
I used a tftpd32 as a server and expected the phone will pull firmware from the server. I hold the # key and rebooted the phone, the line 1 and line 2 button start blink, released the # keay and pressed 3491672850*#. But no file transfer happened.
Now the phone showed me a dark screen all the time.
The attachment is the firmware I used, tftpd32 settings, error messages from tftpd32.
The phone is struggling with the IP problems. MAC 00:21:55:55:5C:A0 is the phone's mac adress

released the # keay and pressed 3491672850*#.
This combo is for a complete re-flash of the system. It can take anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes.
The combo is suppose to be 123456789*0#.
Also, go HERE.

I saw different version of the combo, both 123456789*0#. and 3491672850*#
For cisco 7940, I used 123456789*0# and it was successful.
I doubt the firmware files I used is lacking of some essential component.
Yes, the upgrade may take a long time, but I can't see the file transfer at all. I don't think the tftpd32 is going on well.
From another post, it is said the upgrade have to go to a intermediate version (8.3.3 to 8.5.3) and then can go to a higher version. So, I am trying 8.4.4 now
3491672850*#.

If you are playing with SIP, then you need to have several files, some just plain text files, to be able to covert from SCCP to SIP.
Click on the link I've provided in my first post.
FYI: I have 7940, 7960 and 7970 currently working in SIP. I have successfully converted them from SCCP to SIP with the help of the link I've posted above.

Yes, I tried 7940G last year and it was successful as well.
For 7941, the firmware I downloaded from Cisco website is quite different from the 7940. Not sure if there are files lost in the folder.

Yes, I tried 7940G last year and it was successful as well.
7940/7960 are very, very easy to convert to SIP.
79X1, 79X2, 79X5, however, requires more effort.
Again, GO TO THE LINK I've posted in my first post. It will help you immensely.

I am reading it . It looks I have get all the things there, but the phone is not going to pull any files from the server. Do you think it was something with the tftpd32?

Hi ,
you can refer the link for using tftpd32
https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/96856/upgrade-firmware-3rd-party-tftp-server-tfpd32
secondly, you can refer the link for downloading the firmware

Hi Aman,
Yes, I can't see any difference from the post except for the firmware. I have no idea how many files in the firmware. With the zip file I downloaded from Cisco website only 8 files exists. But I was suggested by others some more files needed for this.
The files I have for 7941 SIP firmware are
apps41.8-5-2TH1-9.sbn
cnu41.8-5-2TH1-9.sbn
cvm41.8-5-2TH1-9.

The files downloaded are correct.

I tried 123456789*0# but can't see any difference

Dear Triumph,
What version of call manager you are using?
05-04-2014 12:24 AM
I am using a tftpd32 as the server. I don't have a call mananger

Another link seems more possible .
This should be the right files for the upgrade of 7941G. I tried to decompressed the cmterm-7941_7961-sip.8-5-2.cop file and find all the files. But my phone still won't draw any files. Now since my phone can be connected to my router and get a valid IP and I can ping it, I tried to use simply a TFTP server to do it, but not the tftpd32 binding DHCP and TFTP together.

It looks the tftpd32 is not working properly. No files transfer between tftpd32 and 7941G
