8821 Wireless phone

I am working on a Call Manager 11.0 cluster where they have working 7925 phones in their Aruba wireless. They recently purchased a single 8821 phone and we have been experiencing multiple issues. The first issue is that the phone will lose it's registration and when it does the phone will reboot. Additionally we have seen several times where the phone will go to a black screen with the message Device has Crashed in red letters. We have upgraded the phone to the latest 11.0(3) firmware, but the issue is still persistent on the phone.

Has anyone ever run into this type of behavior?

Thanks,

Michael

You could be running into this bug:

https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCva24501

there are quite a few bugs for the 8821 phones:

Hi

We face the same issue using the latest 8821 firmware loads as well as several ES. The 8821 is unregistering sporadically (ARUBA WLAN as well). Could you solve this? Any Workaround?

I had an issue on Cisco wireless with the phones not registering properly on new firmware and my issue ended up being that we had not created a proper SIP Profile for the 8821 phones. There are some unique timers that need set.

In Cisco Unified Communications Manager Adminsitration, select Device > Device Settings > SIP Profile.
Click the Copy icon beside Standard SIP Profile and rename it something like 8821 SIP Profile and then set the below values save and apply it to your phone.
Timer Register Delta (seconds)—Set to 30 (default is 5).
Timer Keep Alive Expires (seconds)—Set to 300 (default is 120).
Timer Subscribe Expires (seconds)—Set to 300 (default is 120).
Timer Subscribe Delta (seconds)—Set to 15 (default is 5).

Thanks, SIP profile is set accordingly. Regards, Werner

Hi

very bad product this 8821 IP Phone

Not very stable : a lot of disconnection with the AP (in 2.4 or 5 GHz mode)

Other problem we have :

Message with MIC not installed and one with message device have crashed

Wonderfull with Cisco quality !

Too Expensive

Too plastic !

We are on newest Firmware for 8821 / Newest firmware for Meraki,.. Still the phones unregister / drop calls. Very frustrating.
Anyone have any further insight?
