Hi Everyone,
We ordered yesterday a Cisco 8831, but we will get the license only in 2 days, could we anyway connect this phone to the CUCM, does it will be allowed by the CUCM using a kind of temporary / trial licence in waiting the license?

So as i said 8831 falls in Enhanced category which means if you have any of the below it would borrow a licences from that category.
Enhanced Plus | Enhanced Plus User Connect License - supports up to two devices, and including all Enhanced devices. |
CUWL Standard | CUWL Standard Unified Workspace Licensing (UWL) license for Unified CM - supports advanced (voice and video) call control features including desktop and mobile with maximum of two devices per user. |
CUWL Professional are used for webex kinds of integration.
CUWL Professional | CUWL Professional Unified Workspace Licensing (UWL) license for Unified CM - includes CUWL Standard features and professional collaboration workspace application features with maximum of ten devices per user. |
So if you only have the licences shown in table above, it would not work. Till the time you add an Enhance licence.

Hi,
The Cisco Unified IP Conference Phone 8831 requires an Enhanced User Connect License (UCL) on Cisco UCM Versions 9.0 and later. If your ELM/PLM has a license available then you can register this phone, else it will not register.

Hi,
So like Manish said 8831 would require Enhanced User Connect License (UCL)

But you can always borrow licences from higher tier
License types are categorized into license tiers, where the higher license tiers offer more functionality than the lower tiers. For example, CUWL Professional, the highest Unified CM-tiered type, offers more functionality than CUWL Premium or Advanced (the exact functionality is specified in the License Usage Details screen). The License Usage Table View and Chart View (as shown in the figure above) display the types in order of tier, highest to lowest.
License substitution refers to the Cisco Prime License Manager feature where a higher tier license type can be substituted for a lower-tiered type that would otherwise be in overage. In the Chart View example (in the above figure), there are 50 spare CUWL Professional licenses on loan to Basic. In this example, the 50 spare licenses are sufficient to cover the entire Basic overage. If the user installs a license file that adds Basic licenses, the spare CUWL Professional license would then be available for future CUWL Professional requirements.

So if you have a higher tier licence available 8831 would still work.

Interresting, so we use the CUCM version 10.5.2 , below the licenses we using. Does they should allow us to use temporary the 8831?

With only basic license it will not work.
