We have a number of 8961 running on our CUCM 9.1.1 system, but this week when we try and bring up a Phone that has been offline it will not register, also a new phone will not register.
I managed to get into one of the phones and saw this in the messages
2257 NOT 09:42:50.601632 CVM-SIPCC-SIP_REG: ccsip_handle_ev_failure_response: registration has been rejected. Set registration_reject to TRUE.
2258 ERR 09:42:50.601736 CVM-SIPCC-REG: LINE 201/1: ccsip_handle_ev_failure_response : SIP failure 503 resp
2259 ERR 09:42:50.601829 CVM-%Credentials cannot be empty
We have not done any changes to CUCM, so a bit stuck with this problem.

Hi,
what is the firmware version u are using for 8961?
any mesage which is appearing on display of phone.
Do u have enough DNs if Auto registration is being used?

Phone firmware is sip8961.9-3-2-10
message on phone
'not registered',
don't use auto-registration
only clue is the message on the phone,
using Cisco 8961- Standard SIP Non-Secure profile
and Standard SIP profile
it's just startes happening this week, we have 27 8961 phones registered ok, but trying to register new ones fails

Hi Aman,
It turned out to be the CUPS server, we were also getting Jabber problems so the CUPS servers were rebooted, and that also fixed the 8961 problem.
