9971 no conference button

CME 12.0 - 9971 registered phone, phone A (sip9971) calls phone B (sip7975)

Phone B (sip7975) has a conf softkey and can initiate a adhoc conference with phone C (sip 9971) all is well.

If you try to replicate this the other way around there is no conference softkey available on the 9971? Ive read the documentation that 9971's support adhoc conferences on CME. Ive tried and tried to get the Conference softkey to show up on the 9971's with the voice register template and feature button commands. No luck.

How do you do an adhoc conference on a 9971 on CME with no softkey or button to initiate it? I have to be missing something here?

Thanks!!

Have you gone through the below.

Feature Policy Softkey Control

Cisco Unified CME 8.5 allows you to control the display of softkeys on the Cisco Unified SIP IP Phones 8961, 9951, and 9971 using the Feature Policy template. The Feature Policy template allows you to enable and disable a list of feature softkeys on Cisco Unified SIP IP Phones 8961, 9951, and 9971. Table 1 lists the controllable feature softkeys with specific feature IDs and their default state on Cisco Unified SIP IP Phones 8961, 9951, and 9971.

Cisco Unified CME uses the existing softkey command under voice register template configuration mode to control the controllable feature softkeys on phones. Cisco Unified CME generates a featurePolicy<x>.xml file for each voice register template <x> configured. The list of controllable softkey configurations are specified in the featurePolicy<x>.xml file. Phones need to reboot or reset to download the Feature Policy template file. For Cisco IP phones that do not have a Feature Policy template assigned to them, you can use the default Feature Policy template file (featurePolicyDefault.xml file).

Yes, not only is there not a Conference option in that table or the file, the ConfList didn't work either.

Yep read that one as well. Goes right along with your first reply. There is no conference option in the table to enable via this method. I edited the featurePolicy1.xml file and attempted to enable the ConfList. Verified the phone pulled the featurePolicy1.xml file down via tftp debugs. Made no difference on the phone and never showed.

It's baffling that Conference is supported on the 9971, on CME, and no configurable mechanism on the phone, to invoke it.

As @jamie mentioned the phone has a  dedicated conference button.
