Hi All,
Rather than a query , i need a confirmation of sorts for a group of voicemail users who are relocating to a new location from the existing one.
While they have got new DID for that place, they want to keep the voicemail profile of the old DID as well as the new one.
Eg. They plan to keep the old one 123-456-7890 as well as the new one 101-112-1314.
So my confirmation question is that since the AD synced profile( thus preventing the AD name edit option), do we add the other extension in the alternate extension page and also , do we do the usual 7 digit dtmf code in the box for alternate extension or is it the complete DID or only the 4-digit extension.

Hi Abhishek,
I'm sorry my friend, I must be lost here
My reference was to the fact that the usual way to do this type of change
would be redirect the "old" number 123-456-7890 to the "new" number 101-112-1314
via CUCM. Then in Unity/Unity Connection we would either recreate the user
with the new DN and add the old DN as an Alternate extension or leave the user
and just add the new DN as an Alternate extension. The Voicemail profile would likely
stay the same and wouldn't really come into play too much for this change.
This way callers can call the "old" or " new" DN and still reach the user with the proper
voicemail etc. and the users wouldn't have to re-do their greetings/setup.
Is that where we are going here??
Cheers!

Hi Abhishek,
You are always welcome, but I don't think anything I
offered up helped too much
Nice job getting things working!
Cheers!

Hi Abhishek,
The number that you enter as the "Alternate" extension would generally be
whatever significant digits are being passed to Unity Connection. Do a test with one of
the numbers and see what is required. I would try 4 digits first, then 7 then the
full 10 if required. My guess is that you'll be able to get away with 4

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the response.
I would definitely try that part.

The user just tried , with the last 4 digit of the new extension in alternate extension. It did not work.
Also the pin , does it stays the same , and once the call goes on the new ( alternate extension), does it directly reaches the voicemail ( or is there a way to access it).
Also i am trying to put 7 digit code now and check.
