Hello All,
I know from experience that you can tie out a speaker system to the CUCM. I am wondering if anything has changed since the last time I looked into this, is it possible to broadcast messages out via the speaker capabilities of the cisco IP phones? This is something that can typically be set up on nortel key systems, but to date I have not heard of a way to get this function via the cisco phones on call manager.
Does anyone know if there is now a way to get this to work via the ip phones speaker function?
If you know, please share your experience.
Thank you.
Rgds,
Vicky

Hi Vicky,
There are more tested "Partner" solutions available via the Cisco Marketplace;

Hi Vicky,
Hope all is well with you!
One method that can be leveraged for this type of setup is the paging via "Informacast"

Hi Rob!!!
Happy to hear from you. So integrating the call manager with Paging is actually something I have done before. What I am checking here is if we can set up paging that utilizes the speaker feature of the cisco IP phones. I did find a post that indicates it is possible to set this up. Not sure if you have seen this post from the forum:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/document/21701/how-configure-paging-and-intercom-features-cisco-callmanager
It makes sense to me looking it over but it looks like it could get a little messy. When we have done this at my previous job, we integrated a Valcom speaker system with call manager and it worked well and nice clean setup/integration.
Please let me know if you have seen the post above and if you have any thoughts. Again, this is looking for a way to utilize the ip phones without adding any 3rd party equipment into the mix.
Let me know your thoughts. Hope all is well by you.

Vicky

Hi Vicky,
I have read and just re-read that TCC doc and I don't think it will help in achieving what you are trying to accomplish. One thing that has changed since the release of CUCM 9.1 is that basic Informacast is packaged/included in the available build. There is no way to page through multiple IP phone speakers without the use of some 3rd party product one of which is Informacast but there are many others available.
Cheers!

But in order to use external paging systems or overhead speakers, the basic informacast would not be enough, you'd need to buy the advanced informacast license
