1) is no problem, as already answered in other post.

The Avaya phones will NOT failover to the CUCM as a backup PBX!

for 2) you also need a direct connection (SIP trunk or other) from the CUCM to the outside

if you only have a trunk between CUCM and Avaya PBX , and the Avaya PBX goes down, then you can only call internally between phones registered directly to CUCM, all other Avaya phones will be unreachable.

As per the first requirement you can add any third party phone to CUCM, though would recommend to once go through the config guide for the third party phone.

Below are the steps :

1. You can add the device under : Device - Add new - Third-party SIP Device (Basic or Advanced)

2. Then we need to have to select the digest user, Digest user will be the one from the end user, For ex : User John. Under End User page for John.

you would need to configure the digest credentials, these credentials will need to be put in on the third party phone as well to make it work.

Then assign this Digest user on the phone config page.

3. Now the last thing is to select the Phone security profile, Under the System- Security - Phone security profile : You need to select : Third-party SIP Device Basic - Standard SIP Non-Secure Profile

Then make sure the box for enable digest authentication is checked.

Regarding the second requirement, could you please elaborate further.

Thanks

Aman
