Is the following a supported/approved use of BARS. Customer wants to try a restore using BARS to an already working CallManager publisher, i.e. to revert the server to a state it would have been in for example to weeks previously.
Is this a correct way to use BARS, or does the operating system always need to be re-installed firs, i.e. is it a 'disaster' only tool ?

That should work.
It will overwrite SQL DC data

never really tested this. Restore should work fine, but one thing that I suspect could come up as an issue would be DBReplication

used several times BARS this way, including on a production publisher (IP Phones & GW registered on subscriber) without any problems, as long as running on very same SW version and IP address
