BE6K migration,compatibility & other questions

Hi all,
I have an old CUCM7-BE (MCS7828H3-K9-BE7) with 1800 units of Phone License features in addition to 50 mail box in the unity connection. Also in branches there are MGCP gateways works also in SRST when CUCM fails. Models are (2851,2811,1861,2911 Qty=16).
IP phones Models are 7911, 7941, 7942, 7945, 7975, 6921, CIPC. Qty= 300, possible to extend more.
I`m  planning to migrate to CUCM BE6K in more that one stage. First to replace the CUCM server then Gateways and IP phones.
1- Will BE6k server be compatible with above Gateways & phones and do call processing, SRST, Media Resources, etc???
2- Can Cisco replace the exist DLU units with with UCL Basic Licenses or have to buy it??
3- In above IP phones models, which are considered as UCL Basic and which as UCL Enhanced.?
4- Is Mail box and unity connection ports purchase separately from point No. 3?

5- am plan to get BE6M-M5-K9 ( CUCM, Unity, Express Way & Cisco Meeting server), is that possible? can PCP removed and install another application instead of it as i intend to not use PCP at all?

6- what is the smallest Cisco Meeting server deployment with configuration guide to it and Express way Installation guide?

7- What  needs to access BE6K 12 ordering guide?

thanks again

Wow, that is an old server.

1. The BE6k is just a Cisco UCS C220 M5 with VMware vSphere. You will need to install and configure or upgrade - which will be multiple hops from 7.1 - the actual products you have (eg CUCM and Unity). For Unity you will need to use COBRAS to migrate data to Unity Connection http://www.ciscounitytools.com/Applications/General/COBRAS/COBRAS.html. None of those endpoints/gateways are actively tested with current releases but they will work (https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/unified/communications/system/Compatibility/CSR-Compatibility-Matrix-InteractiveHTML.html);  MGCP hasn’t changed in years and none of those phone models are deprecated yet (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/unified-communications/unified-communications-manager-callmanager/213546-unified-cm-phone-feature-list.html). You may need to perform a multi-hop phone firmware upgrade though (https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cuipph/firmware/8_5_3/english/release/notes/7900_853.html#wp57602).

2. You need to work with your Cisco partner to generate an upgrade quote. They will no doubt propose a Flex subscription plan as an alternative to UCL/UWL perpetual licenses.Seriously consider that option as it’s the direction Cisco is moving.

3. Everything you listed is UCL Enhanced.

4. CUC ports are no longer licensed, only mailboxes. You will need to upgrade them just like CUCM or sign a Flex subscription.

5. In theory yes but consider Webex as part of the Flex subscription instead of CMS. You or your partner need to work through the load calculations to be certain. Each of the applications have ISOs and VMs pre-loaded but everyone just deletes the VM, deploys the OVA, and does a clean install from ISO (except Expressway which has the software in the OVA itself). If you don’t want PCP, just delete that VM.

6. CMS is complicated; be careful what you ask for. Each vCPU grants 1.25 HD ports so you would add vCPUs on the core/combined VM to get the capacity you need; minimum is four vCPU. https://www.cisco.com/c/dam/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/uc_system/virtualization/virtualization-cisco-meeting-server.html

7. Ordering guides are only accessible to partner and Cisco employees.

Thanks Mr. Jonathan for your answers.

The most important thing that the old ip phones will work on the new BE6K just need firmware upgrade despite not tested as you mention.

TWO more important point if you don`t mind, which need explanation for me even in brief:

8- What is Flex subscription in brief and how it relates to mine BE6K DLU to UCL, unity port and finally Webex as instead of CMS , as you mentioned before?

9-(Most important), in brief too, What is the different between CMC & webex in meetings & in general, what is complicated in CMC, and Finally; i have SX20, new BE6K(BE6M-M5-K9) that i`ll buy & webex, what needs to make them work together and what license is needed? Is there any application to be installed in BE6K to make them work or go ahead as i told you i`ll install CUCM,Unity,Express, CMC??? Is CMC needed in this scenario, if no what is its main function??? as i knew its a replacement for Telepresence server.

Very thank full to you.

regards,
