Bulk administration for Remote Destination Profile failed

Dear Friends,

Microsoft Teams has been integrated with our CUCM. In Remote Destination Profile, I manually added 90 users and it works. I would like to add 1750 users as bulk administrators. I tried it with two users, but it gave the following error.

Please advice.

This bugged me so much so I decided to build my own import file to verify that it worked. Eventually after a few tries and errors I got it to work with these files and a RDP template that you use for the import.

On the template you'll have to set a few mandatory things, like a user name, device pool and a line. See the screenshot for an example. Don't worry about what you set on the template as these values are then overwritten by the values in the CSV file.

Then when you run the import you select both a file and a template.

After you have got the RDP imported you run the RD import and it will tie to the RDP.

Please do note that these files are not using any of your data, these contain data that matches what I needed to get it imported on one of our systems.

Can you please share the file that your using for this so that we can validate the content? Most likely there is a mistake in the content or format of it as that is by far the most common cause of issues with bulk imports.

It might also help you out if you where to do an export of your current RDPs/RDs from bulk admin and use that as a template for how the import file should be formed. But please be warned that just because the file looks a certain way when exported it does not necessary mean that the import file will be crafted the same. This is one of the many small quirks with BAT that you just have to come to terms with. Only the BU at Cisco knows what the <bleep> goes into the mind of the developers of this fine tool.

Dear Roger,

Thanks for your response.

You are right, Exporting the existing configuration, modifying it, and importing it for bulk administration.

I have attached the two CSV files for your kind review.

RD- Remote Destination

RDP - Remote Destination Profile

I only checked the RDP file so far, didn't find a suitable RD file to compare with. If I compare it to a file that I have at hand for RDP it would look something along with this with the data from your first line.

For simplicity I removed all your call forward information, if you need that please make sure you add it back.

One comment on your file, you should not use the same CSS for Rerouting CSS as for calls from the RDP. These are two distinct different use cases. The Reroute CSS is used to make calls to the number defined on the RD and the CSS is used for call made from the RDP, ie when you get a call in reverse and the calling number matches the number set as the destination on the RD.

Also please remember that the ASCII fields have a limited length for what they can contain, as do some other fields as well. Best is to verify this in the webUI per field so that you don't use longer values than what is possible.

Found a RD file to do the same check. This is how I would have put the RD file based on your first line of data.

My apologies, I am a bit confused. Could you please let me know what changes I need to make? I have attached the exported RD & RDP file. If possible, please modify for me.

I have attached both text as well CSV.

Here you go.

Response Signature

I think the file is not properly converted to csv file

shahulhameed_0-1662551237837.png

Sorry I forgot that saving CSV in Excel with the regional settings that we have in Sweden will put the delimiter as semicolon instead of a comma. Open the files in Notepad++, or whatever text editor you use, and do a replace of all ; with ,

I have edited the files on my post and uploaded them again.

What version of CM do you use? The error states that the name of the column "mobility user id" is wrong, likely it is called something else in your version of CM.

Response Signature

I have CUCM version 12.5

Try renaming the column "Mobility User ID" to "User ID" and run the import again. This is what I meant by that the content of an export file might not always match up with what is required in an import file. You simply need to do tries and correct what it complains about until you get it right.

Also try with this file for the RD part, I have reformatted it after a better example file that I dug up from my old bat files.
