Hi all,
We are converting a customer from a legacy Meridian system and have a lot of pissed off users because there is no way to bypass the call forward with a feature key like their old system had.
I know about the Call Forward Override between assistant/manager if the manager has their CFA to that number, but we have a situation where managers will have multiple secretaries who work different hours or a hunt group. The manager will either forward to one number or a hunt pilot. If forwarded to a single number, it works fine if that person answers the phone, but if someone else in the group picks up the call, then they have no facility to transfer the call back to the manager and similarly for anyone who picks up the call in the hunt group.
Is there any way round this or anything I can put together to provide them with the ability to pass the call back from certain external numbers?
Thanks
Sean

Hi Sean,
You are most correct, in that Call Forward Override is based on a
1 to 1 relationship. This is where you would need to do one of two things
either;
1 - configure a "Shared" Secretary line where it appears on all
the admin phones. The Manager may like this as well as they will only
need to remember 1 Call Forward DN
or
2 - configure a new "hidden" non-DID transfer line on the Manager
phone. When a call comes in on the Manager DN and forwards to one of the
Secretaries, they will be able to transfer to the new "hidden transfer DN". This
makes the Boss feel special as well which is a win-win for everyone
Cheers!

Thanks Rob! I thought the shared line might be the way to go. In the mean time I've been testing out some alternatives and have found a possible workaround in the form on line groups and hunt pilots.
I have added the extension into a line group of its own and assigned a hunt pilot with the prefix that the customer is used to dialling for call forward override (*5) and this ignores the line group member CFA settings and rings the phone.
For example:
Created Hunt pilot *51000 and added 1000 as a line group member
1000 is forwarded to 2000
1001 calls -> 1000 -> forwarded to 2000
1001 calls *51000 -> Call rings at 1000
This isn't ideal as I'll have to do it for every extension that requires this feature, but I suppose I'd have to add all the new shared lines anyway and this way it saves the manager from having to remember a new very complicated 4 digit number

Hi Sean,
You are most welcome my friend
+5 for your cool workaround! Nice thinking! And thank you
for a little morning irony in this reference;
"very complicated 4 digit number"
Hahahahahahahaha!
And thank you to Yosh as well (+5 buddy!)
Cheers!
