Hi Aman,
He can use the download version of the sgn.iso The note on
the download page is really just a "Heads up" to remind people that
a Software feature license would be required. Many people in the past
would do the upgrade without securing the licenses and of course the
Callmanager service wouldn't start. So Cisco started putting up the
warning flag on the download page to remind people.
Cheers!

Hi Malik,
I was just checking the software compatibility for upgrade which says that it is possible to upgrade but when I login on Cisco Site for downloading the patch , it says
Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.1(4) part 2 of 2 (non-bootable) - Upgrade from 6.1(2x), 6.1(3x)
That is the reason u a re getting this message.

Hi Malik,
Just to add a note to the good tips from my friend Aman (+5)
The 2 files, when combined should have a .sgn.iso file extension;
Upgrading to Unified CM Release
6.1(4) by Using the UCSInstall File
Because of its size, the UCSInstall iso file, UC
OS_6.1.4.1000-10.sgn.iso, comprises two parts:
•
UCSInstall_UCOS_6.1.4.1000-10.sgn.iso_part1of2
•
UCSInstall_UCOS_6.1.4.1000-10.sgn.iso_part2of2
Procedure
Step 1
From www.cisco.com, download the two UCSInstall files.
Step 2
Execute one of the following commands to reunite the two parts of the file.
Note
The 6.1.4.1000-10 build represents a non-bootable ISO that is only useful for upgrades. You cannot use
it for new installations.
a.
If you have a Unix/Linux system, cut and paste the following command from this document into the
CLI to combine the two parts:
b.
If you have a Windows system, cut and paste the following command from this document into the
command prompt (cmd.exe) to combine the two parts:
Step 3
Use an md5sum utility to verify that the MD5 sum of the final file is correct.

Hi Malik,
The problem which I see is that their is no patch available to upgrdae from 5 to 6.
The patch which is available on Cisco site says u need to have at least 6.x so that u can upgrade to 6.1.X

Hi Aman,
This is a supported upgrade path my friend
Check out (Table 22);
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr1.pdf
The reference that you see has always been on the download pages
and is related to the fact that you need to order 5.x to 6.x upgrades
via PUT so as to receive the proper "License" files. Here is the exerpt
from the release notes;
Upgrading to Unified CM 6.1(4) from Unified CM 4.x and 5.x
If you are upgrading from 4.1.3, 4.2.3, 4.3(2), 5.1.2, or 5.1.3, use the
Product Upgrade Tool(PUT) or the PUT for registered customers only
to obtain a media kit and license or purchase the upgrade from
Cisco Sales.

Hi Rob,
Thanks a lot for making me clear.Surprisingly,I do not understand why is it like this for some versions where u need to place the order through Cisco while in some cases , u can download the patch directly from Cisco Site
So, Malik has to place an order through PUT provided u have valid ESW /UCSS contract.

Malik,
I know this is an old thread, and is a complete long shot, but is there any chance you have the cisco-ipt-k9-patch5.1.3.8000-4.tar.gz.sgn on hand somewhere? We have an outdated CallManager cluster, and one of our nodes died, and now trying to rebuild, I can't download this file anymore. The cisco site no longer allows you to download 5.x callmanager.
You're help would be greatly appreciated!!!
