Call Manager & Voice Gateway Compatibility

Hi,

I am checking on CUCM version and Voice Gateway IOS version compatability.  I have checked the following ling, but it is showing only 1 supported version.  Does anyone have a more comprehesive list of the supported IOS versions for CUCM versions 8.0 and 8.5?

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

In addition to the good notes from Kevin (+5 )

The Gateway IOS version is really "independant" of the CUCM version.

In most cases the versioning of the two is is based more on a minimum

supported feature contained in the IOS. For example, an  ISR 2821 might

be running 12.4(20)T with CUCM 7.x and the migration to CUCM 8.5 does not

mean that the IOS needs to be upgraded unless you were looking for some sort

of new feature support or to mitigate a bug or bugs.

Keep in mind that most of the docs like the one you linked only show the

"tested" version.

I quite like this doc

One small thing to just keep an eye out for, is if you are going to use an existing 28xx in an upgrade, where the customer intends to add, 69xx SIP phones at a remote Branch office, then you will need to look at SRST 8.0 minimum, which comes in IOS 15 (not 12), and then you need to make sure that router has enough Flash/Dram to support the new IOS release, not to mention if it still has Smartnet to entitle you to even download the IOS for it.

So while I agree and learn from this thread, beware of the gotchas.
