Call Routing from/to E1 line over IP Network

Hi Guys,

I have a following scenario, i need some examples or cisco guides for the solution.

Head office and 2 other branch offices has a Cisco 3845 Routers and each one has has E1 Ports.

Each E1 port of the routers is connected to E1 Interface of the Third party PBX at head and branch offices.

The idea is to router the calls between 3 PBXs over the IP Network using cisco routers.

Can some one guide me with examples or guides on the cisco site.

3rd party PBX 1

|(E1 Port)

|(E1 Port)

3845 Router 1-----(IP Network)

3rd party PBX 2

|(E1 Port)

|(E1 Port)

3845 Router 2-----(IP Network)

3845 Router 3-----(IP Network)

|(E1 Port)

|(E1 Port)

3rd party PBX 3

Hi Naren

Are you sure that its a E1 port on the router side ?

can you post the output of show version here so that the same can be verified ?

Hi Prem Kumar,

thanks for the reply.

actually i am putting together a IP Telephony solution with the cisco hardware, i still don't have the routers yet.

however i intend to use 3845 ISR with this following WIC

Cisco 2-Port T1/E1 MFT VWIC2 (part number VWIC2-2MFT-T1/E1)

am i wrong at any point??

The vwic2 is the right card to use.

Do you plan to use the 3845 just to make the PBX connection? Have you checked it's price already?

It seems a bit oversized for such a job.

We will also use that for WAN optimization with WAE-502 Network module.

Hello,

are you sure that the WAE-502 is a good investment for your network? I have seen many caching 'solutions', including Cisco's ones, to not deliver the expected performance because traffic turned out to be not cacheable and not optimizable. That is surely not my call, but you may look at upgrading your circuits bandwidth instead, that has a guaranteed return.

WAE-502 and WAE-512 with the ISR routers, WAN Optimization can be achieved with Caching and Compression.

wthe applications we are using can be optimized greatly.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, and good luck with your project!
