I am looking in the benefits of integrating unity connection 8.5 with CUCM 8.6. Keep in mind that my current cluster has a sip trunk to a provider for PSTN
what are the key benefits of doing one over the other.?
thanks

For the last 3 or so years I have been doing SIP integration due the easy of it and it working well. Rather than dealing with VM ports/line groups/hunt lists/hunt pilot you simply create a SIP trunk to UCXN and point Route Pattern to it via RL/RG and you are done. One limitation you have with SIP integration is lack of native AAR support if you need that, but there are some creative ways around it.

In addition to Chris excellent point (+5) I have seen a few issues with auto attendant over SIP trunks when SCCP is used. So if you are going to be using SIP trunks then you are better of with SIP. Most SCCP versions do not support inband DTMF. This creates an issue when you are using Unity connection CH for auto attendant and IVR services. There are ways around it, but I will go for SIP
