I’m currently working on a Teams Direct Routing migration project and would like to clarify the compatibility of Cisco 9800 series IP phones with Microsoft Teams.
We are aware of the Microsoft SIP Gateway option, but unfortunately, it does not support features like Teams contact synchronization, which is essential for our use case, especially for common area phones and receptionists.
My question is:
Is there any way to configure Cisco 9800 series IP phones to work natively with Microsoft Teams (i.e., without using SIP Gateway)?
Or are they strictly limited to SIP Gateway integration for basic call functionality?
If native integration is not possible, are there any known workarounds or third-party solutions to enable Teams features like contact sync on Cisco phones?
Thanks in advance for your insights.

Native Teams Phone is not currently supported. Please discuss this requirement with your Cisco account team so they understand the potential loss of revenue to a competitor.
I’d be really surprised if there is a 3rd-party that can plug this gap but it may be worth asking Phonism (not an endorsement).

Thanks @Jonathan Schulenberg
May I ask if you have any guidance or references on how to set up a corporate directory or address book for Cisco MPP phones?
