Can incomming blocked numbers be found?

Chris Alvarado

I work for a state and local municpality and every so often we get a pissed off local that threatens employees. The calling party blocks there number from being viewed so we can not find out who it is. I have run a call detailed record but the calling party field is blank. Is there anyway I can find these actual numbers or is that just not possible? Or can I stop blocked numbers from being allowed in our phone system? Thanks...

If you do not get the calling number in the setup messages, there's no way for you to find that out. You would need to involve telco.

If you're using H323 you can block calls without ANI, just search CSC and you'll find plenty of posts with the info if you're interested.

If you have h323 gateway you can do this.. Configure translation rules as shown below:

voice translation-rule 11000

  rule 1 reject /[^0-9]$/

voice translation-profile CALL_BLOCK

  translate calling 11000

dial-peer voice (incoming dial-peer(s) tag(s)) [pots | voip]

   call-block translation-profile incoming CALL_BLOCK

   call-block disconnect-cause incoming invalid-number
