CIPC audio issues? Audio device not appearing as option

Running CIPC 8.6.6.0 and having intermittent audio issues. Intermittent, as in, it'll work just fine for a few weeks/months at a time.

Usually, I'm able to hear the ringer, as well as who I'm talking to through my USB audio device (external soundcard/dac). Sometimes, it inexplicably stops working.

Audio tuning wizard doesn't list the device as an explicit option for the three audio modes (headset, speakerphone, or handset). It only lists "Default Windows Audio Device." All audio devices show up as options for "ringer," however.

What I've tried/verified:

  • Rebooting computer, restarting CIPC, neither helped
  • Running CIPC as admin
  • Running CIPC with various compatibility modes
  • DAC was set to default audio device for playback.
  • Separate mic is set to default recording device for recording
  • TFTP server address is correctly configured (it's what worked before, and is also what my colleagues are currently using)
  • Device name is properly set in CUCM
  • Audio network setting is set to auto-detect
  • Switching to a different DAC, it seems to show up as an option for the audio modes, and I can hear the ringer.

Open to any suggestions. Not sure if there's any other software out there that could serve as a "drop-in" replacement for CIPC, it does seem pretty old.
