Cisco 2901 Router - Call Manager/Unity Express

Hello,

We are looking at replacing our current partial PRI with a SIP trunk (through Rogers)

Just wanted to ensure that our current VoIP infrastructure is compatible.

1. Call Manager/Unity runs off a Cisco 2901.

      - Cisco IOS Software, C2900 Software (C2900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.1(2)T1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

2. IP Phones are a mix of 7960, 7940 and a 7920.

3. Cisco IP Communicator  (soft phone).

Also, not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask, but what are the costs for:

- a session border monitor applicance

- SIP licensing (I believe this is a one time license fee)

Thanks.

There's your CUCME license - "uck9"

I have the same router / license as you and I have two SIP trunks and a PSTN FXO. I dont believe there is any additional licensing involved. I do not use a CUBE - I terminate the SIP trunk directly on the CUCME router. I have secured this through my firewall and are inspecting SIP in and out. My suggestion is try / lab it up to gain an understanding of how it may work for you. You may find you need a CUBE for other reasons.

Assuming you're talking about CME and not CUCM, yes, the ISR is compatible

Cisco Unified CME and Cisco IOS Software Version  Compatibility Matrix

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/requirements/guide/33matrix.htm

CUE runs on a separate module

Cisco Unity Express Compatibility Matrix

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/voice_ip_comm/unity_exp/compatibility/cuecomp.htm

Those phone models will work fine with CME, as well as IPC.

There's no sip license on CME. If you need to configure SIP phones or SIP trunk you can do so with the CME features.

All seem oood to go. You will need UC license for the 2901.

What is the UC license? Our SIP trunk vendor mentions that a SIP license would be required. Are they both one in the same?

You would require CUBE licenses for each SIP trunk.

How comes? I don' t think he will since the OP simply wants to replace an ISDN with a SIP provider on his CUCME router.

OP can you post the output of the "show license" command? You say you are already running the 2901 as a CUCME, but the "about the system" doesn't mention your "uck9" license, consequently I think Paulo suggested you would then need that. If it is a voice bundle then you will have the uck9 license already (or UC license).

As Java said, there is no additional licenses required.
