Cisco 3825 and PVDM.

My client has a Cisco 3825 Router. The same is the IOS 12.4 (11) test router has 2 PVDMs64 on the motherboard. He also has a module with 2 PVDM NM-HDV2-2T1/E1.

I wonder if the router that I bear PVDMs put 2 more on the motherboard and two more in the module.

The router would then 8 PVDMs.

I wonder also if it is possible to configure the conference and transcode PVDM module pair using all router interfaces. My client has a Cisco 3825 Router. The same is the IOS 12.4 (11) test router has 2 PVDMs64 on the motherboard. He also has a module with 2 PVDM NM-HDV2-2T1/E1.

Hi Marcelo,

There are 4 PVDM slots on the 3825 motherboard and there are 4 PVDM slots on the NM-HDV2 module:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/routers/ps5855/product_data_sheet0900aecd8016a8e8.html

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk652/tk653/technologies_tech_note09186a008039c333.shtml

So, to answer your question, yes, you can add 2 more PVDMs on the motherboard and NM-HDV2 to make the total of 8 PVDMs on the router. Also, yes, you can configure conferencing and transcoding using all these PVDMs as long as you configure the following under the 2 voice-cards on your router:

voice-card 0                         (this is for the motherboard)

dspfarm

dsp services dspfarm

voice-card 1                         (if NM-HDV2 is in slot 1 of the router)

dspfarm

dsp services dspfarm

HTH.

Harmit.
