Would like to setup SIP on a Cisco 7970 IP Phone.
Have downloaded the following SIP firmware from cisco site. But not sure where to go from here.
7970 and 7971 SIP IP firmware files only - Compatible CUCM Versions: 7.1(5)+

Would like to setup SIP on a Cisco 7970 IP Phone.
Kindly provide more information. Are you planning to use the phone with a Cisco-based CallManager or a 3rd party (non-Cisco based) CallManager?

If you're using the phone on a CUCM of some sort, why do you want to use SIP instead of SCCP?
Is there an advantage to using SIP over SCCP?
On 79xx phones, I've never used SIP over SCCP since SCCP works well.
Just curious.
