Cisco 8961 Product Specific Configuration

Hi All,

We are currently running CUCM version 9.1.2.15900-7 and have deployed Cisco 8961 phones with firmware sip8961.9-4-2SR2-2.

We wanted to have the phone display on 24/7 and created  a new Common Phone Profile specific for these phones and removed value in Display On Time, Display On Duration, and Display Idle Timeout fields and also checked Override Common Settings field next to them.

After applying the new profile to the phones and resetting them the changes are not working as desired and the phone display still turns off after an hour. When we apply the above changes at the device level to the phone they do take effect and the display is on 24/7 as desired.

Have we missed anything that wouldn't allow the Common Phone Profile to take effect on the phone?

Thanks,

Farhan

Is the "Override Common Setting" also checked on the device itself?

If it's checked in all 3 places the order should be as following:

1) Device Configuration window settings

2) Common Phone Profile window settings

3) Enterprise Phone Configuration window settings

So, as long as it's checked on the Profile and not the device it should work as you'd expect it to, so perhaps a defect.

Thank for the reply Chris.

"Override Common Setting" was only checked on Common Phone Profile when we applied the profile to phone. However, it didn't change behavior at all. We then set the same settings on the device and checked "Override Common Setting"at the device level as well and the behavior changed  as expected.

I am also inclining towards a defect but couldn't find any bug related to it. I just wanted to check if I had missed anything in the configuration.

Thanks again.

Farhan
