Hi Community,

We have Cisco CME version 10.5.

We are trying to configure paging but we cannot make it work!

We are using SIP phones 7821, 7841, 9971, 9951 and SCCP phone 7965G.

Here is the CME configuration:

ephone-dn  99
 number 999
 paging ip 239.0.1.20 port 2000
 paging group 99

ephone 1
paging-dn 99

voice register pool 36
paging-dn 99

voice register pool 47
paging-dn 99

CME-Router-2921#sh ephone-dn paging

        Paging Configuration

ephone-dn 99  (ACTIVE)
 number 999
 paging ip 239.0.1.20 port 2000
   ephone-1[0]          paging-dn 99 (ON )
   voice reg pool 36    paging-dn 99 (ON )
   voice reg pool 47    paging-dn 99 (ON )
 paging group 99
   ephone-1[0]          pagingGrp 99 (ON )
voice reg pool 36    pagingGrp 99 (ON )
voice reg pool 47    pagingGrp 99 (ON )

        Paging Control Info
skinnyPC[0] ephone-paging-dn 99 (ACTIVE) count 1
phone           ip address      next hop        port
ephone#[phone]  1[0]            239.0.1.20      239.0.1.20      2000
sccp(ephone#[phone]): 1[0](mcast)
 group 99       (ephone#[phone]): 1[0](mcast)
sip (pool[peer tag]): 36[40006](mcast) 47[40017](mcast)
 group 99       (pool[peer tag]): 36[40006](mcast) 47[40017](mcast)

When I dial the paging number 999, the call is answered but the idle phones doesn't receive any broadcast message and stays idle.

What is needed to be checked?

Thank you for your support.

Is IP multicast routing enabled? Have you checked on the switch phones are connected to see if you see anyone attempting to join the igmp snooping groups?  What is the results of a show ip mroute?

Have you tried the unicast method?

I had the same issue with 8841 phones on CME 11.6

I found  the Port number for paging SIP phones must be different but did not find in the documentation. It could only be found on the help on the command using the "?"

ROUTER(config)#ephone-dn 30
ROUTER(config-ephone-dn)# number 777
ROUTER(config-ephone-dn)# name Paging
ROUTER(config-ephone-dn)# paging ip 239.1.1.1 port ?
<2000-65535> Specify the port: 2000 - 65535 (even num from 20480 to
32768 for SIP line)
