Cisco Phone Database integrate with Power BI

Hello All,

Anyone have an idea how I can integrate our Cisco's Phone database into PowerBI so that our analytics team can perform reporting ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am extremely late to the game, but did this get resolved?

There are also UC data connectors that can standardize and warehouse Cisco CDR now to make this a bit easier.

Integrating your Cisco phone database with Power BI for data analysis and reporting is straightforward, especially when leveraging tools like Cisco’s AXL (Administrative XML Web Service) and Metropolis’s Expo XT. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Data Preparation in Power BI

Begin by using Power Query in Power BI to clean your exported data from Cisco UCM. This involves removing duplicates, standardizing formats (like phone numbers), and renaming columns for better clarity.

  • Importing and Modeling Data

Once your data is cleaned, import it into Power BI using the Get Data > CSV option. Then, in the Model view, establish relationships between your tables, such as linking the NUM Plan with the Device Pool, to facilitate comprehensive analysis.

  • Automating with Cisco AXL

To streamline data retrieval and management, you can use Cisco’s AXL API. AXL allows for programmatic access to CUCM data, including device pools and directory numbers, reducing manual tasks. For more information, refer to the Cisco AXL Developer Guide at developer.cisco.com/docs/axl and the AXL Python SDK documentation at ciscoaxl.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install.

  • Streamlining with Metropolis Solutions

For a more integrated solution, consider using Expo XT Cisco UCM for Power BI. This tool simplifies the process of integrating Cisco UCM data with Power BI and provides advanced analytics and real-time insights. It’s an excellent choice for organizations aiming to enhance their data analysis without extensive manual intervention. You can find more details on AppSource.

For further assistance, the Expo XT Cisco UCM Assistant  is also available to guide you through the process.
