Dears

I have issue with Cisco  7961G connect to cisco 3524 XL switch.

I found that the phone doesn't get POE , so  i get external Power for it.

so now I connect the phone to this switch   and phone get the external power .   the port of the switch is NOT blinking   .

I try to register the phone to CME router  ( I upload the firmware to flash )  but the port itself not blinking .. i try with different ports.. but it still the same.

is there any idea to resolve this issue.

thanks

Hi Marlo,

Does the phone boot?

What is the message that you see on the phone?

(configuring ip or configuring vlan)

Is the 7961 the only phone not working?

Please let me know

Regards

Carlo

Sounds like a cable issue.

Config of the switch is wrong.  Where's the Voice VLAN configuration on the switchport?  Where's the Voice VLAN in the VLAN Database?

i change the cables .. i use different cables in different port.

all the ports Never get blinking.

my questions :

1) is this swich give POE for 7961G ?

2) should I use straight cable or Cross cable ?

thanks

Straight-through because the 3500XL does NOT support MDI/MDI-X.

Don't plug a phone in, instead, plug a computer or laptop on the same port and cable.  Does the laptop/computer NIC light go UP or not?

Post the output to the command "sh post".

there are routers connect to thsi switch  and it works fine

Cables for routers and cables for PoE are two different things.  Routers will use up to three pairs but PoE requires the 4th pair.  If this pair is not properly terminated then PoE won't work.

Unfortunately, WS-C3524XL-EN-PWR does NOT support TDR.

I use the newest  cable which i use it for the projects . I use  Ethernet Patch cord.

what do you mean by   TDR ?

is this switch support POE for cisco phones?

Hi Marlo,

Can you please post a show version and , if available, show power inline?

Thanks
