hello. I am trying to get an IP phone registering with CME, but it doesnt seem to work. here is what i got:
System image file is "flash:c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.151-3.T.bin"
VOIP1#sh telephony-service
CONFIG (Version=8.5)
=====================
Version 8.5

phone firmware: cmterm-7940-7960-sccp.8-1-2.zip (P00308010200)
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/requirements/guide/cme85spc.htm.html
The phone itself doesnt show errors under the status, it just keeps looping between the "configuring ip" and "opening 172.16.1.1" mesages.
I upgraded the phone's firmware to match the requirements of CME8.5. Before the upgrade I got an application loader error or something similar.
Router's configuration is as follows:

Hello Heiki,
Check this links:

Other thing can you ping the IP Phones from CME? The IP Phone configured at the correct VLAN?
Put the command load for the firmware load file.
telephony-service
Load 7960-7940 P00308010200 !---<==== configuration for load command

yes, the phones acquire ip fine and they are assigned to the voice vlan.
i also got to the point where i compared the configs and saw i was missing the load command.
however i know for sure that on another router with the same model phones i had everything working without the load command. however it could be that on the other setup i had different IOS and phone firmware.
anyway i will give it a try and let you know how it works out. first thing on monday.
thanks for your help!

I know this is crazy, but today the original configuration works like a charm. All the equipment is the same, the configuration is the same, all the firmwares are the same. I have no idea why it is working now and didnt work last week. I guess I could call the problem solved.

I was having the exact same problem with CME 8.5 and a 7940. Simply rebooting the router fixed the issue. I had not reloaded the router in a very long time and had tried many different configurations on it because it is my lab router. When we make a lot of changes sometimes it is good to reload the system. Thanks for the help everyone.
