CME External Directory

Interesting problem I can't sort out.  I have an 1861 CME connected as an H323 gateway to our call-manager but for all intents it is a stand alone system.  I am trying to get the phones on the CME to access the corporate directory on the Call manager.  I've added the url http://10.5.1.15:8080/ccmcip/xmldirectory.jsp  just as it is on one of the call manager phones into the telephone-service config as the directory url.  I've also added the phone's mac to the call manager and done all the resets.

The issue is when I hit the directories button on the CME phone I get a list of 8 directories.

1,  Missed Calls

2.  Received Calls

3.  Placed Calls

4.  Missed Calls

5.  Received Calls

6   Placed Calls

7   Personal Directory

8   Corporate Directory   -   Host not found

Any ideas on what may be happening would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Please apply the workaround mentioned on the CSC forum:
https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/297309;jsessionid=CD09CC99C4BCE38A85?41369FE600AE87.node0?tstart=-1

Removed the Application:Cisco/CorporateDirectory and replaced it with
http://X.X.X.X:8080/ccmcip/xmldirectoryinput.jsp (X.X.X.X being the IP Address of the Publisher).

HTH!

All the phones that are registered with the call manager are not having any problems.  Just the phones attached to the CME where I am trying to use an external directory.  The url in enterprise parameters is by IP.

Hi Mark,

To enable an external directory resource on supported Cisco Unified IP phones and disable local directory services on those same phones, perform the following steps.

Prerequisites

To use a Cisco Unified Communications Manager directory as an external directory source for Cisco Unified CME phones, the Cisco Unified Communications Manager must be made aware of the phones. You must list the MAC addresses of the Cisco Unified CME phones in the Cisco Unified Communications Manager and reset the phones from the Cisco Unified Communications Manager. It is not necessary for you to assign ephone-dns to the phones or for the phones to register with Cisco Unified Communications Manager.

Restrictions

Provisioning of the directory URL to select an external directory resource disables the Cisco Unified CME local directory service.

SUMMARY STEPS

1. enable

2. configure terminal

3. telephony -service

4. url {directory | service} url ***something like http://172.16.242.240/CCMCIP/xmldirectory.asp for CCM 4.x or

url directories http://x.x.x.x:8080/CiscoWebs/IPPhoneservices/CCMIP/xmldirectory.asp for CUCM 5.x,6.x or 7.x

5. end

From this good CME doc;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmedirs.html#wp1015876

Hope this helps!
