Common Device Configuration in CUCM 7

Hi        There,

The common device configuration field at the phone level defines some settings for the phone such as softkey template, MOH etc.

I think the UDP should overwrite the setting when user logged in on the phone, but I found that the common device configuration on the phone level acturally overwrite the UDP configuration.

The scenario is some of our users have softkey template on the UDP which do not have DND button configured, but on their phones, we have the DND button configured. After users logged in, they still can see the DND button and use them.

I read the document about what does the common device configuration do, and it does not make sense to me.

Can someone explain to me what does it do and why it overwrite the UDP settings?

Thank you in advance.

Is this still an issue in later releases?

Can you set a Softkey Template and or MOH in Common Device Configuration as a "default" for a Device and override it on the Device or Device Profile?

Would you need to set CDC <None> to set a one-off on a Device?

What's the priority? On Softkeys is it "additive"?
