Hello all,
I have a situation here, with a CUCM 6.0.1, with the following simptoms:
1) Conference with all stations configured (under the same region) to use G711: conferencing is OK;
2) Conference with all stations configured (under the same region) to use G729: conferencing is not available.
As far as I can do conferences with G711, why can't I do conferences with G729? I'm not mixing the codecs, as I'm using either G711 or G729, therefore, i don't think Transcoding is necessary. Should transcoding be configured as well?
Thanks,
Karl

Hi Karl,
The following doc should help you out: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/vvf_c/interop/intcnf2.html

Hi Karl,
Software conference bridges only support G711. You'll need either hardware conference bridges or a hardware transcoder and a software conference bridge to use G729.

Chris

Hey Chris,
I think I've read this in some of the thousand documents I've read. Anyway, thanks for repplying!
Do you have any reference guide for hardware bridge? I've a router here with DSP resources avaiable (it's my voice gateway as well). Could you help me with that?

Hey Chris,
I create a DSPFarm in the voice gateway and create also the Conference Bridge in the CUCM 6.
The ConfBridge is registered at the CUCM, as I can see on both - router and CUCM.
But I still can't make conference. Do you have any tips? Attached is the router config and a print screen from CUCM.
Thanks!

Hi Karl,
Can you confirm that the hardware conference bridge is in the appropriate MRG and prioritized properly in the MRGL of the phones?

Hi Chris,
I created new MRG and MRGL for this test, as I don't want to cause any problems to the whole company.
I set 3 IP SIP phones to the new Device Pool;
Device pool has the new Region and also the new MRGL configured;
MRGL has the new MRG configured.
Inside the MRG is the new confbridge configured (attached this last one print).
The SIP phone is a Linksys, with the CONF button. I'm doing the same process as for G711: Call established, conf button is pressed, 3rd participant number is dialed after the response, the conf button is pressed again. The call drops (the same situation on G711 makes a conference, instead of dropping the call).
What do you think? is transcoding or MTP necessary to be created too?
Thanks!

Hi Chris,
I realizes I created it wrong. It's a Cisco IOS Conference Bridge and not a Cisco Conference Bridge Hardware, as I did.
I deleted it and recreate a new Cisco IOS Conference Bridge. I'm not sure whether it should Cisco IOS Conference Bridge or the Cisco IOS Enhanced Conference Bridge. I have a 2821 router with PVDM2 installed on it.

Hi Karl,
For PVDM2's your looking for Cisco IOS Enhanced Conference Bridge.
HTH,
Chris

I've just did as you said. It looks registered at the CUCM.
Do you have any idea how could I troubleshoot it?
Thanks!

Hi Karl,
It could be a number of things, it looks like you're using locations based CAC in your conference bridge config, you may want to ensure you've configured that correctly with the appropriate amount of bandwidth between locations. Also, try adding the following command under your voice-card 0: dspfarm
HTH,
Chris

Hi Chris,
First of all, thanks for helping me.
I've just tried to create as you said, Cisco IOS Enhanced Conference Bridge, but CUCM show the registration status as REJECTED. If I create the conference in the wrong way, for example as Cisco IOS Conference Bridge, it simply registers.
Now I'm trying to find out why it's now registrating at CUCM. Device names on both router and CUCM are fine. Do you have any idea?
07-29-2011 12:36 PM
Hi Karl,
Can you confirm that in your CFB configuration in CUCM, you've put the following in the 'Conference Bridge Name': CFB0013C41ABA80
Chris

Chris,
The name seems to OK. Take a look at the debug:
