Solved: Configuring PVDM3 on Cisco 2921

I am trying to configure a dsp resource on a router. When router was brought online there was only three vwic card configured and we used 2 vwic cards to connect two PRIs. We brought up two PRIs properly. Now after a week we connected the PVDM3 card to the router and now when I am trying to give this following command it is not recognizing it at all. Please tell me what I am missing.

When I am entering

voice-card 0

It is showing Router(config)#voice-card 0

What I am missing here?

Yes its a licensing issue. You are not able to see voice related commands because you dont have a UC license. See below:

You have evaluation license you need to activate that. You can do that by below commands:

license boot module c2900 technology-package uck9

accept the agreement: Yes

Write memory

reload << you will need to restart the router for this to take effect.

Then check your voice commands should be working.

Is there a way to get permanent license on that?

To get a permanent license you need to buy it. Normally you buy it when you order the router as a bundle. In your case, you have Eval Right to Use license.

Its eval for 60 days, after 60 days it will turn into a Right to Use license as per the document I sent you previously.

It may keep on working on RTU honor based system but there is no way you can convert into a permanent license unless you buy it.

I haven't tried it and also encourage you to buy the permanent licenses specially if its a production environment. It seems from here though that it will keep on functioning:

Activating an Evaluation License

Note Starting with Cisco IOS Releases 15.0(1)M6, 15.1(1)T4, 15.1(2)T4, 15.1(3)T2, and 15.1(4)M, Evaluation licenses are replaced with Evaluation Right To Use licenses. Evaluation Right to Use licenses automatically become Right to Use licenses after the initial evaluation period. Follow the steps detailed in this section to activate an Evaluation Right to Use license.

So your current UC EvalRight to use should be automatically turned into a RTU (which normally will keep on functioning, but again I haven't tested this and will still recommed you buy permanent license for production environment)

The config you posted shows the vwic card in slot 0 is set as T1:

card type t1 0 0
card type t1 0 1
! card type command needed for slot/vwic-slot 0/2

If you want to use E1 for the card in slot 0 you need to remove these commands and re-add as E1. Also slot 0/2 is not yet defined as a T1 or E1, to use as E1 you must define it before you can the pri-group timeslot command.
