Configuring SIP configuration in cisco CP 7841

Hi,

I am trying to set up Cisco CP-7841 with a third party Hosted VoIP service provider (SIP) but I was failed to configure the same, There is no CUCM or any other Cisco Call manager involved. When I switched ON the device it is asking activation code/ service domain to continue, this should be required for further configuration. Also how we can enable SSH and Admin Web portal in this phone. I can be logged in the web portal but couldn't able to change anything through this web portal.

Can someone please help to configure this Cisco CP 7841.

Thanks in advance

You will need four items to get this to work:

  1. A valid SEPmacaddress.cnf.xml configuration file for the phone;
  2. Firmware for the phone;
  3. DHCP Option 150 configuration; and
  4. TFTP server

A known working SEPmacaddress.cnx.xml file for a 9971 can be found in the link above.  You'll need to make some modifications to the file to get it to point to the SIP provider.

Thanks Leo for your timely support. We do have couples of doubts too.

After transferring the files to the phone it is showing only " Registering..... ". But in SIP server no logs were received from this phone.Here I am attaching the XML file. Please check the configuration file which is currently running the phone 7841 and revert if we need anything have to change that file to get the phone registered with the SIP server.

I appreciate your assistance in advance.

Go to Settings > Admin Settings > Status > All Status.

What messages are displayed?

I had a quick look at the configuration file and all I'm going to say is "where did you get this from?" because there are a lot (and I mean A LOT!) of missing XML tags which are important.

And the value of the Proxy tag is incorrect. It should always be "USECALLMANAGER".

Hi Leo,

Thank for the support....

With this configuration I'm able to register my extension. Can you please help me to modify this file for registering another PBX server to Line 2..

With this configuration I'm able to register my extension.

And someone rated with a 4-star?  Uh-huh.

Hi Leo,

We couldn't able to register different PBX server on the phone. Is it possible to register multiple PBX servers in 7841? If possible could you can share that configuration file for me. Because we are facing that much challenges for configuring extensions/voice mail and other features in Cisco 7841 without CUCM.

  I appreciate your assistance in advance.

So this is for business purposes, is it?

yes. we are planning to use this phone in our organization. Here we have two third party vendors for making calls.

First of, this is NOT a "Cisco phone" issue.  The phone can register to an Asterisk server just fine.

Next, out of respect of Cisco (after all, this is a Cisco-owned forum), I don't like to provide assistance if the purpose is for BUSINESS/Commercial use.

hello i read your case and I wanna ask you for help, can you say me how many files are necesary for the configuration please, i realize that you talk about a SIPMACADRESScfg.xml but i did a file similar but the tftp server dont copy the file can you gime some help please

my phone is cisco cp-7841

Hi Leo!

I apriciate you sharing this.

What exactly out of all of that do I need to edit? And that should work on a Cisci 8845?
