Can some one list the advantage and the disadvantage of the connection like: LAN switch ---- IP telephpne ------ PC and the connection like:
PC-----LAN switch----IP telephone?

LAN switch ---- IP telephone ------ PC
For this, I think the main advantage is that you save on switch ports. main disadvantage is if that port fails, both phone and PC fails. If you do an upgrade of the firmware on the phone, the pc connection drops too.
PC-----LAN switch----IP telephone
Opposite of the previous method.
Disadvantage, use up double the switchports.
Advantage, more redundancy. phone down, pc still up.

With scenario 1, even if phone fails. you can still connect the pc to the walljack and still continue working. Again this depends on whether the switchport is configured as a access/voice vlan port.
People go for scenario 2 where they need high availability to the desktop at the cost of more cabling costs and more port counts on the switch.
