We are now seeing intermittent connectivity issues on computers connected to the PC port on our 7841 and 8841/8851 phones after a CUCM upgrade to version 14.0.1.13900-155. The phone firmware on the 88 series phones is sip88xx.14-2-1-0001-14 and sip78xx.14-2-1-0001-14 on the 78 series phones. The computer works fine when connected directly to the wall port but when the phone is added, the problem starts. Everything works fine for a few minutes but then the computer indicates it no longer has internet. If you wait long enough, connectivity returns but only for a few more minutes. If I release/renew the lease on the computer, connectivity returns. When looking at Wireshark trace, the computer is sending arp requests but never gets a reply. We have confirmed the core router is providing a reply, it just doesn't make it through the phone to the PC. The computer can't even ping the gateway when this happens. We have about 1200 phones deployed and are currently seeing this in a handful of locations. Is there anything in the phone's switch that would block this traffic? Is there a log I can see in the phone that would help troubleshoot? I looked at the console logs but that doesn't show anything helpful. I pulled a PRT report, but don't know which log to look at, if any would even be helpful. This problem didn't happen when we were on CUCM version 12 and nothing has changed in the computer configuration. I have not tried turning on the span to PC port and doing another trace but I've considered that.

Does the phones restart when your PC loose network connectivity ?
is this a common issues or for some specific phones or on all phones which are connected to some specific switch ?

It turns out the driver for the Realtek NIC didnāt like something after the phone's firmware update. I thought I had the latest driver but there was a newer one released in June that HP hadnāt posted yet. So far things seem stable again. The new driver is now posted for new HP models. Driver version 1153.13.420.2023 seems to have corrected the issue. For anyone with an HP shop, the driver can be found either through Windows Update or Driver - HP EliteBook 860 16 inch G9 Notebook PC | HPĀ® Customer Support.

We're seeing a very similar issue. Did the NIC driver update prove to be a permanent solution for this? Would really appreciate any updates you may have since the last post.
Thanks

Yes, we have not seen the issue return since updating the driver. We are now using Realtek driver version 1156.15.20.327 without issues.

Really appreciate the reply. Do you recall what phone firmware version you were running before the upgrade to CUCM V14? Also, did you happen to see it on the NICs of docking stations, and if so do you have any details on which ones? This has been a headache for us for quite some time, and I would love to have a fix for it. Thanks again!

We were on sip88xx.12-8-1-0101-482 prior to the update. We were seeing issues with HP docks both the USB-C G5 and Thunderbolt G2 docks. Basically anything with a Realtek NIC. We had no issues with Intel or ASIX based NICs. The latest Realtek driver really should resolve the issues.
