Hi, I got the model # indicated in the title to use with an asterisk server. Traffic will be unencrypted, and all I need is to do simple registration, place calls from the phone thru asterisk, and receive calls routed thru asterisk.
I looked around and I am supposed to make available a config file thru a tftp server(thats not an issue).
The problem I'm having is with what to put into the config file? The sample I found has several hundred fields, and I only need the simple behavior described above. Can I delete seemingly unneeded, arbitrary fields from these config files without consequence, or does each field need a value?
If someone could provide an example config file for the behavior I described above, that would be a lifesaver... I'm not sure what to do here. Thanks everyone!

Thanks, that is very helpful. I am also trying to configure the cisco phone to point to a tftp server I will set up. I can't seem to find this option in the web ui on the phone... Do you know where I can find it?

The GUI only provides info and is not a method of configuring the phone.
If the phone gets converted to 3PCC/MPP firmware, the GUI can be used for configuration.
