I have CP 8831 and Cisco 2921 with IOS version 15.0 and CME version 10.5. I have tried the firmware version 9 and 10 for the CP 8831 but none is registering.

The phone doesn't go beyond the Cisco logo. I have tried to follow the link but still not successful.

Please see attached config and advise where the mistake is.

I think you need to upgrade IOS to 15.4(1)T and later with fast track support. It's mentioned in 8831's data sheet.

Is phone getting correct ip and tftp ?

Please explain to me how the phone which is using dot1Q 50 knows which DHCP pool it should use.?

Also new 8831 phones shipped by cisco has to be min firmware of 10.3.X. as per the instructions in the box.

The phone is only displaying only the REVOLABS logo and then the Cisco logo. It doesn't go beyond that point.

The switch is configured with voice vlan 50 which I suppose redirects the phone to the voice DHCP pool on dot1Q 50. I have Cisco 7942 phones in the same network and are all obtaining IPs from this DHCP pool.

Try with 8831.10-3-1-16 firmware. Also capture debug ccsip messages and debug tftp packets.

Attached reference debug for registration for 8831 CME phone.thanks

I may have good news, this might be simple to fix.

You are getting a "401 Unauthorized" message from the SIP engine in CME, this could be due to a number of reasons.

I notice that the IP in the messages is not part of the trusted list:

REGISTER sip:10.106.36.44 SIP/2.0
Via: SIP/2.0/UDP 10.106.87.34:5060;branch=z9hG4bK1104baed
From: <sip:5009@10.106.36.44

For testing purposes, can you issue a "no ip add trusted authenticate" under voice service voip and try again?

Thanks,

FG

Hi Frgranad,

The problem is there.

The phone is still not going beyond the Cisco logo so I cant even see what IP address its picking.
