Hi,
Within CUCM 14 I can see that CSF devices can be configured as Anonymous. From certain posts online, I see that all examples are of tying the CSF to a specific owner. There are also a few posts online from 3rd party sources that a CSF should always be used with an owner and not as Anonymous.
Is it possible to configure a CSF as Anonymous for full UC? Each softphone taking up a license separate from the rest of the endpoint pool is acceptable (one Enhanced license for phone, another for CSF).
Thanks!

Yes you can. The Owner filed is linked to license usage. if you keep Anonymous it consume an enhanced license. But if the same device is assigned with an owner who based on the number of devices assigned license professional/CUWL license will be consumed.

Awesome, thanks.
Is there a recommended method of provisioning the CSF devices assuming they are configured as anonymous? For example, each workstation would be associated by a unique MAC so the CSF device name would be CSF+MAC and this would be part of the Jabber installation.

Even though you don’t use the user field on the device to handle licensing the CSF would be associated as owned by an end user, so the name of the device should still be CSF + username.

Assume the user id as 1234 so the csf device name will be CSF1234
