CUCM 8.5.1.14900-5: how to use the Cisco 7821s?

Hello,

 

we have a CUCM 8.5.1.14900-5 cluster.

 

We would like to add the support for Cisco 7821s, because currently we can't add a Cisco 7821 to the configuration.

 

We know that we can use this phone with our CUCM because the data sheet mentions CUCM 8.5.1 in the supported CUCM versions.

 

Furthermore, we know that, to enable the CUCM to "see" the 7821s, we have to install a Device Pack (or a QED file, if it exists) on all the nodes, but since we have installed some locale installers (cm-locale-xx_YY-8.5.1.1000-1.cop), we think that we have to install some newer locale installers to correctly localize the Cisco 7821s.

 

So, our questions are the following:

 

  • What are the correct files (Device Pack, QED file, locale installers) to install on the CUCM?
  • What is the correct procedure to install them? For example, can we install all of them and then reboot the nodes in sequence, or do we have to install the Device Pack (or the QED file), reboot the nodes, install the locale installers and finally reboot again the nodes?

Read Me file which lists the firmware that will be installed for all phone types

Install it on all the cucm servers and then do a cluster reboot.

so, no QED file exists for Cisco 7821s? :-(

 

I'm asking you that because meanwhile I've found the following bug, but I can't unterstand it:

It tells about "Qed and support files for 7821/7841/7861 Phones" and its status is "Fixed", but I can't find any QED file on Cisco download site...

Manish has covered the Device Pack. About the locales, you will need to install Phone only installer. You can install the device pack, locale installer and then reboot the nodes (you dont have to reboot twice)

The latest version supported with 8.5 is

Release 10.2(2 )

However there is a similar thread going around with some users having issues installing this locale, with locale complaining about major.minor number not matching.

I have successfully installed the device pack and the locale installers on our CUCM, so the version 8.5.1.14900-5 shouldn't be affected by that bug.
