CUCM 9 Phones will not register to Subscriber

Hi to all,

I added a new subscriber server in my cluster and I change my CM group in order to have my phones registered at this new subscriber but they are not.

In the cluster i have this "site A PUB - SUB (the new one) and site B SUB", I can change the CM groups and the phone are registering to the PUB that is in site A and the SUB  that is in site B but nere with the new SUB that is just installed in site A

I already restarted all the services, re builded the tftp files, verified the db replication but can't find what may be causing the issue, what I noticed is that in the phones they are never getting this new server in the tftp configuration, I mean the new server is not being showed as the stand by server for the phones

Hi Alfonso,

Are u using DHCP at Site A for providing IPaddresses to  phones ?

Is call manager service running in New Sub at Site A?

regds,

aman

Hi Aman,

Yes, i'm using DHCP at Site A and it is providing the correct ip address information and all the services are running.

Regards,

Sounds like a DNS issue, are the servers in CUCM referenced as IP addresses or hostname? As best practice you should use IPs, if you prefer hostnames ensure the DNS resolves them.

HTH,

Chris

Hi Chris,

It seems that you are in the right direction, when I installed the publisher and the first susbscriber I configure both server with names in the CM Group and everything was working fine (no DNS configured), I decided to add a second subscriber and I configured it in the same way (with name) in the CM Group but the phones are not getting registered in this new server.

I changed the name of all the servers from a "name" to their ip address and as soon as I did that I had a phone (the only one that I have for test purposes for the new subs) registered in the new subscriber but all my other phones were being showed as "unknown" in the status but when i saw the phones all of them were registered and working. I guess that behavior was because of the warning msg that the cucm gives you when you change the name of the servers.

At the end I configured the names again and removed the second subscriber from the CM Group and everything was fine again.

What do yo think i can try with this issue??

Thanks in advance
