CUCM Duplex Mismatch Phantom

hi,

I am looking into a strange issue whereby out CUCM Cluster is reporting the below warning.

"CDP-4-DUPLEX_MISMATCH: duplex mismatch discovered on GigabitEthernet0/3(not half duplex), with xxx-xxx-xxx bond0 (half duplex)."

CUCM shows both ports are 1GB Full Duplex on the switch and CUCM.  However when i do a cdp nei it shows that there is a Duplex mis-match.

CDP Nei shows a duplex mis-match

advertisement version: 2

Management address(es):

I am leaning towards the fact that the switch does not quite know how to deal with the failover configuration on the CUCM.  Both swtich ports have exactly the same configuration.

Any ideas most welcome!

Hi

I believe this is a problem with the NIC team software on the CUCM - basically it should report full duplex if the member NICs are full duplex. It is sending CDP messages that indicate otherwise, and the switch is reporting these.

You could raise a TAC case to see if they can fix it or tell you what version of software contains the fix (obviously being an appliance you can't do more than turn the teaming on and off!).

Alternatively you can suppress the errors on the switch side by using this command on the interface:

no cdp log mismatch duplex

Aaron

There you go :-)

Didn't look myself, too many things I try to find recently are hidden from 'public' view!

Good work

Aaron, Joemar,

Thanks for the input. I looked at disabling the cdp msg's on the interface but the no cdp log mismatch duplex command is not there on the switch in global or interface level so dont think it is availble on my current rev IOS (flash:c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-50.SE1).

As it is not service affecting I will need to speak to my colleague to find out whether its worth upgrading CUCM/Switch or just doing the temp measure.

Thanks.
