Hi Experts,
I have CUCM 8.6.2 on VMware and now want to upgrade to 10.5 CUCM version.
Kindly correct me If I am doing any thing wrong in following procedure.
1- Install the refresh upgrade cop file on the 8.6 CUCM
2- Install the ciscocm.version3-keys.cop.sgn file on existing CUCM
3- upgrade directly from 8.6 to version 10.5 by OS administration on the same VM
4- Once upgraded completed shut down the server
5- Change the network adapter setting and OS version with linux
It should be 64-bit
6- Then start the server.
7- Take the backup
8- Install new 10.5 OVA template
9- Fresh install the CUCM 10.5 with the same name, IP etc
10 Restore the backup
Appreciate your response

1, you don't need any RU cop file
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/upgrade/10_0_1/CUCM_BK_U4214F9D_00_upgrade-guide-cucm-100/CUCM_BK_U4214F9D_00_upgrade-guide-cucm-100_chapter_010.html
Assuming your end goal is to migrate from your current OVA, probably with 2 HDDs to the one from 10.x with just one, or a more powerful OVA, yes.
You probably should also look into using PCD for this.

In addition to Jamie's comments, you don't need to do a fresh install of 10.5. All you need to do is after the upgrade shutdown your vm and change your vm settings. such gues os, vm adapter settings, cpu and change disk size (if you need to) using provided cop files from cisco. You should read the 10.5 OVA readme, you will find the necessary vm settings there

The CUCM10.5 upgrade guide documents what is required in changing your VM settings.

Hi, it is still not cleared that whether we should change the VM setting before upgrade or after upgrade.
Kindly advise.

Do it before the upgrade. I have done it after upgrade as well and it works. But its better to do this before your upgrade, so once your upgrade is completed you don't have to shutdown your servers again
