CUCM: Need to Change the AD/LDAP/Domain that is current integrated to a different domain

Mario Garcia

Equipment:

2 - CUCM (cluster)

1 - Unity integrated with Exchange

1 - UCCX

Currently register with an AD.  I need to change CUCM to register with a different AD.  What are the steps that are needed to complete this?  I want to ensure that if there are any caveats I can explain to the customer.

I also need to change the Exchange server that Unity connects to.  What are the steps that are needed to complete this?  I want to ensure that if there are any caveats that I can explain to the customer.

Thanks

You can have up to 5 integrations to the same integration type ie AD, but only 1 ldap authentication.

For CUCM it's just a matter of deleting the whole LDAP config, then recreate pointing to the new domain.

Bear in mind that if the userIDs from AD and CUCM don't match all those users will be deleted.

As for unity review the applicable reconfiguration guide for instructions

Hi There,

If the users in the previous domain is associated with device profiles and has some privileges. Will this be carried out in the new domain considering that the usernames in the old domain is the same as the new domain?

Thanks

As long as the userids remain the same, the association will be fine. The user configuration and device profile association is stored in cucm database. So as long as the user-id is the same, the device profile association will be retained. If the username is the same but the user-id is different you will loose everything because the users will be deleted after garbage collection is done

yes, i mean the userid instead of username. i called it username because it is called username in the MS AD. Obviously, it will become userid once pulled into cucm.

Yes the user association will remain un-changed

Hi Java,

Are there any steps I should take to ensure I do not lock myself out of the system when I remove the old LDAP config and point it to a new domain?

Regards,

Mario

You can always log with the default administrator account created during the install and on worst case scenario you can reset the pwd via cli

Any way to get some high level steps? Cisco documentation is not always the greatest. I want to ensure I am clear. Cisco docs leave me a little foggy.

Thanks

Have you seen this doc, this is for version 6.1, but it has not changed:

HTH,

Chris

Is there any documentation that states how to switch from one AD integration to a different AD integration?

Mario,

As Java pointed out you would simply delete the existing Directory integration and build a new one as outlined in the doc.
