CUCM upgrade from 6.1 to 8.6 procedure

Hi,

I've a customer that has bought an upgrade from his CUCM 6.1 to CUCM 8.6, and there is new hardware involved (MCS-7845-I3). I'm going to check tomorrow the current CCM 6.1(x) version and MCS version to check my possibilities.

But I´ve check on SW compatibility matrix and Supported Servers forCCM releases, that:

- I've direct upgrade from 6.1(5) to 8.6(x)

- MCS-7845-I3 supports 6.1(5)

So I need to upgrade the current CCM to 6.1(5), then obtain a config with DRS. Then install 6.1(5) on new MCS-7845-I3, using same network config, and then use a recovery obtained before. But I have a doubt: should I use the same passwords on the new CCM 6.1(5) or I can use new ones?

I ask this because, I don't have the administration of current server, and I dont think that the current administrators are going to provide me the passwords of current CM and Os administrators.

TIA,

Andrés Pastén C.

Hi Andres,

For rebuilding the servers;

Recording Account Names and Passwords

#

Record all system passwords and account IDs, including those described in Table 2. You cannot retrieve these passwords from the server.

#

Caution You must enter identical passwords and account IDs when you configure the replacement server.

#

##

Table 2     Password and Accounts Configuration Data

#

Field

#

Description

#

Administrator ID:

#

______________________

#

The user ID that you use for secure shell access to the CLI, for logging into Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration, and for logging into the Disaster Recovery System.

#

Administrator Password

#

______________________

#

The password that you use to log into the Administrator ID account.

#

Application User Name

#

______________________

#

The default Application User name for applications that are installed on the system, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Unified Serviceability.

#

In 5.x releases, the Application User Name is set automatically during installation to CCMAdministrator.

#

In 6.x releases, you choose the Application User Name during installation.

#

Application User Password

#

______________________

#

The password that is used as the default password for applications that are installed on the system, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration and Cisco Unified Serviceability.

#

Security Password:

#

______________________

#

The security password that Cisco Unified Communications Manager servers in the cluster use to communicate with one another.

#

You must enter the same password for all nodes in the cluster.

For the Restore;

Be aware that a DRS backup that you take from a server with a particular host name cannot be restored
on a server (either a publisher or subscriber node) with a different host name, even after you reinstall
that node.

You must run a manual DRS backup after you change the IP address of a node, because you
cannot restore a node with a DRS file that contains a different IP address or host name.

Log in to the Disaster Recovery System by using the same Administrator username and password that
you use for Cisco Unified Communications Operating System Administration.
