Hi all,
I'm in charge of a project for setup a Disaster REcovery solution for our UC application.
We are running different CUCM cluster (with CUC and IM&P + Expressway additional services) and I would like to understand which is the best solution to provide a DR on a different geographical site from our actual Data Center.
CUCM are all 11.0.x release and, of course, all deployed on UCS server in virtual environment.
From cisco docs I understand that:
- VM snpashot for UC application is not supported (for high resource usage and impact on RT services)
- VM cloning is not supported: will it invalidate licenses?
So it seems that the only way to make a backup and restore is to use DRS features on all cluster, then reainstall the VM and restore a valid backup.
Can you please confirm all of these considerations?
I'm also considering the option to deploy a cluster over the wan with an Active - Active topology between the Data Center and the DR Site.
Thanks

This is correct, the only supported backup method is using DRS.

Cloning is supported, the caveat is, you'll need to shutdown the VM every time you want to clone it as you cannot do this with the VM running.
