CUCM7.1 called Party transformation

In the called party transformation pattern page of CUCM7.1 ,The field discard digit is grayed out.what could be the cause?

This is most likely because the pattern you have configured does not have any possible digit to discard...

To use the discard digit you need to have some for of "@"  "." or "#"

With a pattern like this..
